East Bengal boss Trevor Morgan was quietly confident of his players form going into the AFC Cup as he commented "Although my side is in good shape having won the Federation Cup and are leading the pack in the I-League, yet I am not aware of the strengths and weaknesses of our rivals"
Selangor are tough opponents having finished third in the Malaysian Super League and one would expect a tough battle ahead for the Red and Gold. How would the hosts try to combat an unknown quantity? Morgan answered that question as he commented, "We will be cautious initially and then we will go for the three points."
There were no signs of complacency in the East Bengal camp as the Englishman would not take his continental opponents lightly.
"I am aware of Selangor's reputation from my stint in Malaysia" he mentioned.
Morgan reiterated the fact that the AFC Cup is a lot more competitive than the I-League but was confident that his men would get the job done. Morgan refused to divulge any information on the starting line up as he felt the team would be chosen keeping the current situation in mind.
The East Bengal skipper Sanju Pradhan also added his views on the tie as he commented, "These international matches are very important and we will be giving our best to perform well".
Pradhan also gave some good news for the fans of the Red and Gold as he confirmed, "There are no injuries and the team is fit, we are confident of qualifying for the next round this year".
