Having won the Most Valuable Player of the match award, Andranik Teymourian was in a confident mood and also took time to congratulate the people of Iran.

The ‘Team Melli’ won all their group D matches and sent out a strong statement to the fellow teams in the competition of their intention to win the silverware.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate the Iranian people. Everybody is happy with nine points from three games.

“We have good quality and the three victories have given us the confidence going into the second stage.”

The former Bolton player paid his respect to their opponents in the quarter-finals but also mentioned that they too have the quality to match them.

“The Korean national team has a lot of players who play in European leagues and can change the game any time from the first minute.

“The Iran-Korea match is to happen and we cannot change that. We just have to treat it as another match and just get over it,” said the long haired midfielder.

Teymourian has already stated that he would like to perform very well in this competition and hope to get into the Premiership again.

“To be honest, I have to thank God for giving me this opportunity. I’m thankful to my family and wife who have always supported me. It’s thanks to them I got the MVP of the match award,” he added.
