When The Junior Became Senior: Yusuf Ansari Replaced Bimal Ghosh As The Head Coach Of Air India (Mango Peel)
Goal.com's first ever Manager of the Month was named at the end of January, with Derrick Pereira of Pune FC coming up trumps.

February has seen one round of I-League matches, two postponed ties from the first round, and a few international games for both the India senior and the U-23 teams.

But one team did stand out in the I-League games that took place, and it was Air India. The Mumbai side has struggled this season, hovering around the relegation zone for the most part, and have had to deal with long-serving coach Bimal Ghosh get embroiled in controversies, and then hospitalized as well.

The man who was named head coach after Ghosh and the club parted ways, and the man who led the team to two crucial wins in February, is our Manager of the Month. He is Yusuf Ansari.

Ansari has been assigned quite a task, filling the void left behind by Ghosh, who had become synonymous with the club, as well as dealing with the rigours of a relegation battle.

The two wins came away from home, which is a significant achievement for Air India, who aren't exactly known for good results on their travels. A 2-0 win at JCT, put together with a 2-1 triumph in Goa against Sporting, has seen the team rise to 11th in the table, four points clear of the danger zone, and with a game in hand.

Goal.com would like to congratulate Yusuf Ansari on the great work in the month of February, with best wishes for the future. Readers can look out for an exclusive interview with the man himself in the next few days.
