Nepal coach Jack Stefanowski cut a rather jubilant figure at the post match press conference, after his side had clinically dismantled India to top Group A in the SAFF Championships.
Speaking about what a momentous day it was for his side, having beaten the Blue Tigers. He revealed, “It means a lot to the people. It’s not only about three points, knowing we can beat India, and to prove it is amazing.”
Paying further tribute to the fans, the Nepal head coach said, “It’s always fantastic, and it’s always great to play at our home. We always get such great support.”
Jagjit Shrestha had to come off in the first half, after starting, even though he was a doubt before the game. Stefanowski revealed, “In a way, we took a chance with him and Gurung. We got one right, the other one we wanted to take a chance. In the end, we had to make a change and it worked for us.”
Giving an insight on how he prepared for the game, the American national said he kept it simple and mentioned, “We came out and played well. We focused on our game and how we played.”
Looking forward to the tournament, the coach stated frankly, “We are just going to enjoy this moment. Tomorrow we take a look at Maldives and Afghanistan, get a good scouting report and then we move on from there.”
On being quizzed whether his side could go all the way in the competition, Stefanowski was bullish in his claims.
“Yeah we will try and go all the way. We have gone past three and have two more to go,” he concluded.
