Afghanistan, the finalists in the last edition of the SAFF Championships, have arrived in Nepal as one of the favourites for the title this time around.
Fresh from a 3-0 triumph over Pakistan on home soil, the Lions of Khorasan are in top form though coach Yousef Kargar stressed that they could have done more in terms of their preparations for the SAFF Championship.
“We did not get more training time for preparations,” he was quoted saying by Givemegoal.
Afghanistan played the best brand of football at SAFF Championships the last time around but coach Kargar downplayed his team’s chances and named his favourites for the title.
“The teams are all strong and equally matched. Mainly Maldives, India, Nepal and Bangladesh are the main contenders,” he mentioned.
