SAFF Championship: The Referee Was Biased And Partial To Us – Afghanistan Coach Yousef Kargar After Losing Final To India
The Afghan coach lamented the referee’s inexperience and mentioned that his country would notify about the same to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)…
Yousef Kargar, the Afghan coach, was a disappointed man as his side who dominated the proceedings until the 68th minute ended up on the losing side in the finals of the SAFF Championship.India scored four goals in the final 25 minutes to rub salt on the Afghan’s miseries after Hameedullah Yousufzari was sent-off for having pushed the referee.
This was after Jeje Lalepekhlua was allegedly fouled inside the area by Faisal Safa wherein referee Sukhbir Singh from Singapore awarded the defending champions a penalty.
“In the first half, we played very well. In the second half, the referee gave a mistake penalty which affected the morale of the team. The referee killed the game.
“The referee was partial to us. I don’t know whether he is a Sikh or a Hindu and hence he supported the team.
“We shall write to AFC on the incident as to how such a young and inexperienced referee is officiating the final. His judgment cost us the game.”
