Sagar Thapa, who scored from a free-kick, a la Ronaldinho from the 2002 World Cup, believes that his side will lessen their mistakes considerably and ready for the Afghan challenge.

“When we left Nepal, our objective was to enter the finals. We have played three matches and finished runners-up in our group.

“We made some mistakes especially in the striking department. We could have been the winner of our group had we taken the chances that came by.

“Semi-finals is just midway to our goal. We won’t make the same mistakes again. Against Pakistan, we gave away a penalty which we should have won comfortably.”

The Gorkhalis struggled a bit against a physical Pakistan side with the picture of their striker Jumanu Rai being on the ground painting the best picture from the match.

Thapa agreed and mentioned though the Nepalis aren’t the best physically but technically, they are certainly up there among the best.

““We are physically weaker than some of the other teams here. But football is not just about physique but also technique. We are much better technically than the Afghans which shall help us win the match.”

Having beaten the Afghans 1-0 in the Challenge Cup, Nepal would certainly go into the match with an air of confidence.

“Afghanistan is strong and we beat them 1-0 in Challenge Cup. While they are better than before, I must add that we more better than them.”
