Lajong's Very Own Armyman-Cum-Striker Seikhohao Tuboi Loving The I-League

The striker also has an affinity for Katrina Kaif...

The game between Shillong Lajong and Mohun Bagan wasn't one to miss, with the atmosphere at the JLN Stadium in Shillong matching European standards. On the pitch it was a slightly dull affair, with neither team created too many chances.

However, if there was one man from the home side who shone brighter than most, it was striker Seikhohao Tuboi. Goal.com spoke to the young man, to get to know him just that bit better.

Tuboi, 22, hails from Manipur, a state that has given India so many quality footballers. He said, "I used to play for Manipur in the junior levels as well, but Shillong saw and liked me, and I joined in 2006."

Very interestingly, Tuboi had enrolled himself in the army before Lajong came calling, and is still an armyman. No wonder the striker looks fit as a fiddle on the pitch!

On the I-League experience so far, Tuboi said, "It's been good so far. For all of us, it's been more about having fun and enjoying ourselves.

"It's a big step up from the second division, and all the teams in the top flight are very professional, and so is the league on the whole. But for me, it's been a lot of fun so far."

Tuboi has been receiving rave reviews for his performance against Bagan, but when asked about it, all he could say was, "It was good", modestly.

A man of few words, we say, but he does find more words when talking about Katrina Kaif.

Tuboi is a movie buff, and who else but Ms.Kaif fascinates the striker.

"Shahrukh and Katrina are my favourites. I like her a lot. In recent movies, though, I like Salman Khan's Wanted."

Difficult to disagree with him on that one, Katrina is quite "likeable". The lad is also a Barcelona fan, although he does like Manchester United as well.

"I like Messi and Ronaldo quite a bit, whereas Bhaichung is still the best amongst Indian players. In clubs, Barcelona and Manchester United are my favourites", he concluded.

The armyman will next feature for Lajong on 8th November, when they travel to fellow I-League newcomers Pune FC for their 7th round tie in the I-League.
