The national coach was pleased with the performance of the Bengaluru FC striker against Pakistan Under-23 side…
Wim Koevermans defended Robin Singh who picked up two yellow cards to be sent-off in the 1-0 victory over Pakistan Under-23 on Sunday afternoon at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
Singh did flick the corner-kick by Lalrindika Ralte which came off the post for Sunil Chhetri to tap in in the closing stages of the first half. But apart from that, he was too aggressive and would often foul the opponent.
On being questioned whether he must ask the Bengaluru FC striker to curb his confrontational instincts, Koevermans was conservative in his reply.
“Well, I have to see the incident. I can only say the presence of Robin is great. He’s a big player up front that every team has to deal with. So I have to see the incident myself and then I will talk to Robin myself.”
Prodded further on the Bengaluru FC forward and the need for the hitman to eliminate all hanging threads to the disciplinary aspect of the game, Koevermans replied stoutly, “I’ll talk to him about it.”
