India coach Bob Houghton thinks Philippines tactician Desmond Bulpin is the right man to lead the AIFF Under-19 team in the I-League next season.

The AIFF recently announced a representative U-19 side would compete in next season’s Indian football league as a club side, and Houghton thinks former QPR and Uzbekistan manager Bulpin is the right man for the job.

"Houghton has recommended Desmond Bulpin's name as coach for the AIFF team for the next I-League,” AIFF president Praful Patel was quoted saying.

“But it does not mean that he will be made coach,” he warned. “We will take up the matter in our Ex-Co meeting next month.”

The Under-19 side, who will play out of Dehli, will be made up of 24 players who have all been given four-year contracts.
