Football Players Association of India (FPAI), which has been the brainchild of Bhaichung Bhutia, has come to the aid of India U-23 team who are busy preparing for the upcoming SAFF Cup.

All the 25 players in the squad have been insured by FPAI for a year and have charged only a nominal fee from the players with the large chunk of the money being paid by the organisation.

"It's not just an insurance for the injuries but also for illness. So, if a player falls ill, he can be compensated," explained the Sikkimese Sniper. The players, who have been benefited by this novel gesture of FPAI and were all praise for the most experienced player for India.

"What Bhai (Bhaichung) is doing for us is great. He is insuring the future for the players as he doesn't want the players to suffer one bit. The insurance will help us gett free treatment from Apollo Hospitals across the country. As a player, you cannot but feel thankful to Bhai," said Bhaichung's East Bengal team-mate, Nirmal Chhetri.

Fort sure, it looks like FPAI is improving the standards for players and is protecting their interests.
