India gain 24 places to 143rd in the latest FIFA rankings

India have gained an incredible 24 places in the last month to leap forward from 167th to the 143rd spot in the FIFA rankings and have moved up 9 places in the continent to feature at the 22nd spot.The Men in Blue have seen their stock rise significantly despite losing their last game to Mayanmar (155) 1-0 earlier this month. India are ranked above Bangladesh (157), Pakistan (171), Sri Lanka (173) and Nepal (175) among the teams from the sub-continent.
The national team don't have any immediate fixtures lined up but will be in action once again when they take on Malaysia (164) in a friendly in September before taking part in the SAFF Championships. There have been talks of organizing another friendly in June but nothing has been finalised yet.
Japan are the highest Asian ranked nation at 26th spot followed by Australia at 39 and South Korea at 47.
