In the 1-1 draw against Philippines, India’s central defense comprised of East Bengal’s Arnab Mondal and Mohun Bagan’s Aibor Khongjee and the duo put in decent shift at the back.
Subhasish Roy Chowdhury backed the two central defenders to come good in the coming fixture against Nepal but added that they will need time to evolve as a pair.
"The two new defenders are from Mohun Bagan and East Bengal and I personally think both are very good. Yes for a new partnership, it takes time to understand each other."
Nepal haven’t lost to India the last two occasions they teams met and Chowdhury is optimistic of his side’s chances should they combine well on Tuesday.
"I have seen the Nepalese team before. But what I feel is we too have a fresh lineup with a number of young players who play well. If we can understand each other in the pitch we can beat Nepal.
“This is our country and we will definitely have advantage. If you are asking about the climatic condition then I feel that our players can play well in this type of conditions,” he mentioned after being asked whether the conditions were better suited for Nepal.
