Wim Koevermans set for an extension

The Dutch coach will be offered a yearlong extension which shall see him at the helm of the national side until June 2015…
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) are impressed with the work done by Wim Koevermans with the national side and are to extend his contract by a year. His current deal expires on June 2014.

Despite a few setbacks, we are on the whole satisfied with his performance. His contract ends in June next year. In all probability, it will be extended by at least one year,” Kushal Das, the AIFF general secretary, told The Telegraph.

While Arthur Papas was to take over the role as the coach of the Under-22 and 23 respectively given the AFC U-22 Championship qualifiers are scheduled in July next year followed by the Asian Games in September where only Under-23 players make the cut, with an exception for four players, the Australian instead chose to join Dempo SC over the summer and the AIFF’s search to fill in that role hasn’t yet yielded any results

“Since there would be a few assignments for the national team in the near future after the two friendly matches next month, we have decided to ask Wim to coach the under-22 and under-23 teams along with the national team. We will discuss all these matters in the technical committee meeting early next month,” Das added.
