The current I-League clubs have got together under the banner of the I-League Professional Football Clubs Association (IPFCA) and have decided to boycott the 'IPL-style' tournament of IMG-Reliance, who are the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) commercial and marketing partners.

The IPFCA have thereby decided that none of the clubs shall release any of their players for the proposed tournament as well as refused to take any participating players on loan.

As such, Climax Lawrence is of the opinion that the players who have signed up with IMG-Reliance won't have a club to play at until the proposed 'IPL-style' tournament kicks off in January next year and would lose out on competitive match practice which is very much an essential. He believes that this isn't good for the players, especially those who represent the country.

"There are so many first 11 players (of the national team) like Gouramangi [Moirangthem], Subrata Paul, [Syed Rahim] Nabi and Nirmal Chettri (rumoured) who have signed for the IMG-Reliance league," pointed the former India international to GOAL.

"It will be very difficult for the Indian national team if these players don't play for their clubs because they will be out of match practice for so many months," he added.

The worst fear that Climax revelled was that of building up a new Team India from scratch.
