Bayern Munich cruised to a 4-0 victory over India on Tuesday evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi and Philipp Lahm stated that the match wasn’t much of a challenge for his side.

The German giants prepared for a week in Doha before coming over to India as they gear up for the second leg of the Bundesliga.

On being asked his opinion on the level of opponents and the standard of play, the Bayern skipper was honest in his assessment.

“On the field, you could see one, two, three and four classes of difference between the two teams. So it wasn’t much of a challenge. That was actually not the purpose of the trip,” said Lahm.

India, which is a market for the Premier League clubs primarily given its blanket coverage and there is also a growing interest in La Liga with some of the best players in the world plying their trade there, Bundesliga is gradually making inroads too with their attacking brand of football which is easy on the eye.

Lahm is of the opinion that Germany’s top division league would have many takers given the kind of support they received in Delhi.

“There were thousands of fans and they were warmly received. They were very enthusiastic. The trip was absolutely worth it. If that hadn’t been the case, maybe we should have just gone back home to Germany. But with the all the warmth, I am very happy.”
