The Indian national team ends the year on 162nd spot in the latest release of the FIFA Rankings while they have also dropped one place in the Asian Rankings and are now 30th in the continent.
The Men in Blue recently defended the SAFF Championship title by beating Afghanistan in the finals earlier this month. Savio Medeira’s side were unbeaten in the competition after being thrashed by Zambia 5-0 in an international friendly.
Among the SAFF nations, Nepal, even after dropping 10 spots, are ranked 153, the highest, closely followed by Bangladesh at 157. Afghanistan are ranked 177 in the latest rankings.
Japan continues to be the highest Asian ranked team on 19 with Australia placed on 23rd spot.
2010 World Cup finalists Spain and Netherlands continue to occupy the top two places with Germany and Uruguay closely following behind.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal are on the seventh position while Lionel Messi’s Argentina on the 10th.
