After a couple of clubs raised the issue of security given that the team was to stay overnight at London as per the previous itinerary, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) realising the seriousness of the matter decided to revise their travel schedule.
Team India are to leave for Dubai and thereafter are expected to board a flight for London with the Indian High Commission assuring enough security arrangements which shall ensure the safety of the players. The squad will thereafter take a flight to Barbados from Gatwick Airport, London.
"It’s great the Tour is happening. We wish the team the very best for the event," said AIFF general secretary, Kushal Das.
Coach Armando Colaco was pleased to see that the team would leave on Saturday for the Caribbean tour wherein they shall face sides ranked higher than them.
"This side has huge potential and needs to be groomed. It’s necessary to expose them to play against stronger sides. I have never seen National Team players playing so well," said Colaco.
“It’s not every day that one gets to play higher-ranked sides. The entire bunch is looking forward to the tour," said Chhetri.
