Indian National Team: Armando Colaco Assures The Top Performers In The I-League Of A Call-up For National Duty
If you have performed in the top division, you will be called for the national camp...
By Kratik Malhotra
The interim coach of India had adopted the ‘performance is the key’ mantra already as he sent out a message to the players who are hoping that their name does feature in the elite list.
“When I first take the Indian job, I will give all those players who have performed well in this year’s I-League a chance,” Colaco told Goal.com.
With Dempo SC, Colaco has tasted unparalleled success and on being asked as to whether he could do a similar thing with the national side, he said, “With the national team, as of now, I only have four months to do wonders. Frankly speaking, you can’t do anything in four months but in any case, I’ll try my best.
“When I think of coaching India, I want to change the entire complexion. I want to change long pass football of the Indian players and make them play short pass free flowing football.
“But me changing the complexion is not possible in four months time; give me 5 to 10 years and I will change the Indian game.
“I have a permanent job with Dempo and they do not want to release me. It is a job wherein I do not need to ask anyone before taking a decision; the management has full faith in me,” said Colaco.
