His recent appearances at two charity matches in Munich and Lisbon respectively gave him a chance to share the pitch with stars like Micheal Ballack, Robin Van Perise, Clarence Sedorf, Zinedine Zidane, Edgar Davids, Kaka and host of other renowned footballers.
The Indian football captain who presides over the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) has led the Indian contingent to attain international membership from the FIFPRO.
Giving a rare honour for the works done by the Indian captain the Portugal Football Players Association has now awarded Bhaichung Bhutia with a lifetime membership. The Portugese counterpart of the FPA of India boasts of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Nuno Gomes as some of their members.
Speaking to Goal.com Bhaichung Bhutia confirmed the fact by saying, "I have been given the Lifetime membership by Portugal Players' Association. I have yet to receive it though."
The Arjuna Awardee has received many such awards and honours in India but this achievement coming straight from a European country means a lot to Indian football fans
