Four players have been called to attend the camp in Goa for the India senior national team and the U-23 side starting from the 15th of this month.

Having made an impression with their good performances in the present I-League, Bob Houghton and his technical staff have identified the talents of Debabrata Roy, D.Ravanan of Mahindra United and Mohun Bagan’s James Singh and Manish Mathani and called them for the national camp.

Speaking to Goal.com last evening, Debabrata Roy said, “It’s good to know that I have been called for the camp. The last time I was part of the national team set-up was almost a year and half back before the SAFF Cup.”

D.Ravanan too has been rock solid for the Jeepmen at the back and deserved to be named in the U-23 camp.

Mohun Bagan’s most consistent player this season, James Singh and Manish Maithani, who is now a regular starter with the Green and Maroons, have been summoned as well.

Meanwhile, in-form winger Steven Dias is still recuperating from the injury he suffered against Viva Kerala on November 6 as he was jabbed by Mohammed Marsook. The Mumbai club has written to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to allow Steven to complete his recovery with the club’s physiotherapist.

“Steven is responding well to the treatment given by our physiotherapist. We have asked the AIFF that it will be better if he continues the treatment with us and we shall send him over to the camp as soon as he is fit. They (The Indian FA) spoke to our doctor to take stock of the situation as well,” informed Mahindra United general manager Henry Menezes on Thursday evening.
