Player Ratings: Italy 1-0 Sweden
The friendly meeting in Cesena ended in a 1-0 win for Italy. Goal.com rates the participants on show...
ITALY
Marchetti: 7.5 - Made two brilliant saves in the opening three minutes from Hysen and Elmander. After that he had very little to do.
Maggio: 6.5 - Showed good energy in the first half and was always dangerous going forward. A little unsure of himself going backwards.
Chiellini: 8 - A rock at the back once again was Chiellini. Scored Italy's goal, and went close with another header. A real leader.
Legrottaglie: 7 - Made a big mistake early on to let Hysen run through on goal, but recovered to have a solid game next to Chiellini.
Criscito: 6 - Had a nervous start to the game when he played Hysen onside, and although he improved Criscito won't be totally satisfied with his display today.
Montolivo: 7 - Some had gone as far as to suggest that his international days were over after last season, but the Fiorentina man has been in good recent form as he showed tonight.
Biondini: 7 - Clocked up the miles and has really staked a claim for another chance in the New Year. Only regret tonight will be the good chance he put wide on 20 minutes.
Marchionni: 6.5 - A busy display from the Fiorentina man, but didn't show enough quality to be considered for a place on the plane to South Africa. Miscontrolled when in front of goal.
Candreva: 7.5 - Another impressive performance from the Livorno man, who is looking like a real star of the future. Linked up superbly with Di Natale before being subbed.
Di Natale: 7.5 - The best offensive player on the pitch. A constant threat throughout, Di Natale created at least three chances for his team-mates and he also went close with a volley.
Pazzini: 6.5 - Played a part in the winner, and also had a number of efforts on target but failed to score that goal to support his pre-match attack on Amauri.
Substitutes
Cassani: 6 - Did his job down the right, but no more.
Galloppa: 6 - A few nice touches and a free kick over the bar.
Rossi: 6.5 - Was very bright in the second half.
Bocchetti: 6.5
Palombo: 6
Camoranesi: N/A
SWEDEN
Isaksson: 7.5 - Could do nothing to prevent Chiellini's goal, but made a string of other saves to keep the scoreline down.
Lustig: 5.5 - Had difficulty all evening against Di Natale, who caused all kinds of problems every time he drifted over to the left.
Mellberg: 6.5 - Led by example at the back did the former Juventus man, and won more than his fair share in the air.
Majstorovic: 6.5 - Really got stuck in, but was occasionally too rash and he saw yellow for one hard tackle.
Dorsin: 6 - Had his hands full as both Marchionni and Maggio attacked, but battled valiantly.
Elm: 5.5 - Second best in the middle-of-the-park in the first half, and this contributed to his substitution at the break.
A.Svensson: 6 - Usually a very technical and intelligent player, but this evening the creative juices weren't as flowing. A gorgeous nutmeg in the second half, though.
Larsson: 6.5 - Worked very hard down the right hand side, and covered the ground both offensively and defensively.
Elmander: 6.5 - Perhaps the most dangerous of the Swedish attack, which isn't really saying too much tonight. Had some bright moments.
Safari: 6 - Delivered some wicked left crosses in the opening stages, but then somewhat disappeared from the game.
Hysen: 5 - Missed a glorious one-on-one in the first 180 seconds. After that he barely got a kick.
Substitutes
Wernbloom: 6.5 - Had a dangerous header in injury time.
Wendt: 6
Djuric: 6
Granqvist: 6
Toivonen: 6
