IFA Shield: East Bengal Management To Meet Subhash Bhowmick Today
East Bengal’s Executive Committee met last evening and decided to have a word with coach Subhash Bhowmick later today after having formed a core committee to look into the footballing issues...
The Red and Gold’s IFA Shield sojourn suffered twin
disasters as they lost to Tata Football Academy (TFA) and Chirag United,
conceding seven goals in the process. Their much publicized tour to Myanmar
didn’t fetch them any result as their performance was third grade, going by the
scorelines.
Miffed at the way things have gone for them, East Bengal management held a meeting and appointed football secretary, Santosh Bhattacharya to look into the issues the team faces.
“We shall have a word with the coach (Bhowmick). We shall come out fighting in the Durand Cup and hope to put-up a better show,” East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar told Goal.com.
It is learnt that failure to qualify into the semi-finals of the Durand Cup could be fatal for Bhowmick’s chances of retaining his position. The going couldn’t get worse for the former Indian striker as they have the high flying Churchill Brothers and Shillong Lajong for company in the Durand Cup.
Edmilson Marques and Jan Berger are also on the exit list after a disappointing performance in the IFA Shield.
