IFA Shield: Air India Are A Tough Side - Carlos Pareira
Churchill Brothers SC coach Carlos Pareira admits that losing out talismanic skipper Odafa Okolie for the crucial clash against Air India in the IFA Shield semi-finals is a blow for his side...
Odafa Okolie is one of the most feared names in Indian
football as he has been the topscorer in the I-League for the last three
seasons. But the Churchill Brothers star would have to sit out against the
Airmen due to double booking.
“Odafa is a trouble for any defense. I’m sure it’s good news for Air India that he is not around,” said Carlos.
In Odafa’s absence, Carlos is likely to use Reisangmi Vashum as a striker along with Durga Boro as Bineesh Balan is in Goa healing from an injury. Jaison Valles shall play on the right wing.
The natural grass versus artificial turf debate crops up and Carlos opines that it’s better to play on the latter given the conditions in Kolkata.
“I saw the Mohun Bagan-Mahindra game. You cannot play a good football match in that ground. The artificial turf is a better option in that case,” he explained.
Speaking of his opponents, he mentioned that Air India don’t rely on individual stars but play a team game.
“Air India are always a tough side to play against. It’s all about team work when you see them play. Let’s see what they have for us,” said the Brazilian.
