Fajer Ibrahim was quoted saying that he could beat India by fielding only seven of his players, which he later claimed to have said as a joke.

“I don’t know what the Syrian coach thinks of Indian football. To say that seven players are enough to beat India isn’t the right spirit.

“We showed what we can do. It motivated us and me especially. Even if it was a joke, such jokes are uncalled for,” said Climax.

The Indian medio was pleased that everyone on the field for India gave their best which resulted in India winning their third trophy in as many years.

“It’s a great victory for us and Indian football. Everyone played their hearts out. It’s the perfect result for our preparations for the Asian Cup.”

The Dempo SC skipper was the subject of criticism by certain sections however he felt that he did reasonably well in the tournament.

“Some said that going to Barcelona was a waste of time. This result shall silence all critics. I would dedicate this victory to the Indian fans and to Indian football,” said Climax who enjoyed his defensive role in the finals.
