India’s Mehrajuddin Wadoo spoke to Goal.com ahead of Saturday’s last round robin game against Syria and remained hopeful of a place in the starting eleven.
With other results going their way, India finds itself in the final against Syria on Monday.
East Bengal’s Mehrajuddin Wadoo expressed his delight on qualifying for the final and praised the team for recovering well from the opening game defeat.
Speaking to Goal.com he said, “The team deserves a lot of credit for this recovery. We made a bad start but then we regrouped and produced very good performances in our next two games.
“And now we are into the final without having played all the round robin games so we have really done well.”
The Kashmiri also gave his thoughts on the Syria team and was confident that India can beat them in both the round robin game and the final.
“Syria are a very good side, they defend well and also attack with a lot of intensity. But we have belief in our own capabilities so we fancy beating them in both the games.
“They might take it a bit easy in the round robin game but we want to keep winning and if the unused players get a chance we will do everything to win the game even though it won’t matter much as we are already in the final,” he concluded.
