Nehru Cup: Manju Disappointed To Be Out Of Nehru Cup
Indian international left-back NS Manju has expressed his disappointment at suffering an hairline fracture.
Manju twisted his ankle during India's 1-0 defeat to Lebanon in the
opening match of the Nehru Cup on Wednesday. He will now be out of all
footballing action for upto six weeks.
Speaking on this, the left-back said, "I am very disappointed to get injured because this is an international tournament and we are the defending champions. So it is unfortunate that I would have to miss the rest of the tournament."
Manju added, "We played well against Lebanon but they scored an early goal and made it difficult for us to come back. Moreover, the grass was heavy.
"If we could have started our training on the ground earlier, it would have been easier. It was difficult to adapt to the ground conditions during the match."
The Mohun Bagan defender also gave his thoughts on the Lebanon national team. He remarked, "They were not that strong but they were difficult to play against. But we still have three more matches in the tournament and we have to win them all. We are capable of doing so."
