The Goan outfit finally laid to rest their wretched form, winning away in Shillong...Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.
|TOP: CAJETAN FERNANDES
Fernandes' conversion from a set-piece ensured that the Sporting Club de Goa come away with three points. The handball just outside the Rangdajied box saw Fernandes make no mistake to double the lead in the 58th minute. The Sporting player did not put a lot of power into his shot but relied on placement which was fashioned to perfection. The ball hit the upright and skidded in across the goal line.
|FLOP: MUNMUN LUGUN
Lugun was guilty of fouling just outside the Rangdajied box. His handball resulted in a free-kick which was converted to perfection by Cajetan Fernandes, virtually taking the game away from the hosts.
