Serie A Team of the Week: Cassano returns to haunt Milan

The best in Italy over the latest weekend of top-flight football are rewarded with a call-up for our latest selection

There is no doubt who grabbed the main headlines in Round 28 of the Serie A season, with Antonio Cassano's two goals against Milan helping to condemn his old club to a 4-2 defeat against Parma. And he's joined in the Goal Team of the Week by a collection of fellow Italians after a starring week for the Azzurri's best.

Gianluigi Buffon's save from Emanuele Calaio's penalty which helped Juventus to beat Genoa earns him the number one shirt, while the excellent displays of Jonathan and Andrea Ranocchia in Inter's win at Verona see them both called up in defence. Atalanta's 3-0 win over Sampdoria came thanks in part to Guglielmo Stendardo's performance, while Vasilis Torosidis netted the winner for Roma against Udinese.

Andrea Pirlo's stunning free-kick winner for Juve at the Luigi Ferraris sees him take a midfield slot alongside Carlos Carmona, also a goalscorer as Atalanta picked up three precious points. Jonathan Biabiany netted the last of Parma's four goals in the stunning win at Milan, while Juan Cuadrado opening the scoring as Fiorentina overcame Chievo.

Up front, the final two spots go to an Italian dream team of Cassano and former Roma team-mate Francesco Totti, whose key opening goal and typically inspirational performance helped the Giallorossi retain a buffer over Napoli in second spot.
