La Liga Team of the Week: Ronaldo and Modric join prolific Ruben Castro

Real Madrid boast three representatives in our latest select XI from Spain's top flight, while Sevilla and Betis stars threw down the gauntlet ahead of their Europa League meeting

Cristiano Ronaldo leads a trio of Real Madrid stars in this week's La Liga Team of the Week as the title race in Spain took another twist.

The Portugal star helped his side to a comfortable win over Levante to take advantage of Barcelona's slip-up against Valladolid, while there were also shocks in store for Villarreal and Real Sociedad.

In goal this week, Willy Caballero was in inspired form as Malaga secured a vital win at Osasuna on Monday to earn a place in our side. In defence, Betis' Damien Perquis put in a faultless showing in the win over Getafe, Jeremy Mathieu was excellent against Athletic Bilbao, and Marcelo capped off a fine showing with a brilliant goal for Madrid.

Granada midfielder Fran Rico led his side to victory over Villarreal, and he partners Luka Modric at the heart of midfield after yet another exemplary showing from the Croatian at Santiago Bernabeu. David Lopez scored after just a minute to lead Espanyol to victory over Elche, while Rayo Vallecano's Ruben Rochina stunned the Anoeta with the winning goal against Real Sociedad.

Ronaldo is in attack after his goal and assist against Levante, while Ruben Castro took his tally to six goals in seven games for Betis to line up on the other side of a front three. Kevin Gameiro spearheads our line-up, with the Frenchman netting Sevilla's third as they prepare for their Andalusian derby in the Europa League this week.
