Top and Flop: Shillong Lajong FC 1-1 Mohun Bagan AC

Take a look at our Top and Flop for the match between Lajong and Mohun Bagan which ended in a stalemate with both teams getting a man sent off...
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

The Mohun Bagan custodian had to pull off a couple of world class saves to keep his team in contention and was the sole reason why the Mariners returned from the North East with a point. Especially the two saves he made in the dying minutes from Subash Singh and Taisuke Matsugae certainly were key in Bagan managing to win a point.

With Echezona Anyichie being sent off for the second yellow card offence, it was sheer stupidity for Shillong Lajong's Jibon Singh to throw away the advantage by getting himself sent off after being involved in a duel with the Mohun Bagan players after Cornell Glen had brought Yusa Katsumi down. This levelled the playing field in what could have been a cake walk for Shillong Lajong who would be having a numerical advantage.
