Top and Flop: United Sports Club 3-1 Sporting Clube de Goa

Late goals saw the hosts secure all three points against the Goa based club.
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

Eric wins the consecutive second "Top of the Match" award from Goal as he pulled off another stellar performance to help United Sports Club notch up their second win on a trot. The Liberian impressed with his passing and off-the-ball movement. He dropped down to make challenges with equal ease and thwarted the danger on a couple of occasions. In the first half, he had set Ranti in a one-on-one position and was continuously supplying balls to the flanks. The best moment for him came in the last minute of the match though, as he ran for more than 60 yards, dodging past every Sporting defender he came across on his way and netted home his second goal of the season.

Though a victory covers up most of the negative talking points, Dhanchandra Singh's raised many an eye-brow. The former Air India defender was often caught out of position, allowing the Sporting strikers to invade the United box easily. Most of his slip-ups were covered by goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee and centre-back Belo Rasaq, which saved the day for the Purple Brigade.
