The chief editor of Goal.com's Arabic edition pays tribute to his former colleague Saif Salah Eldin, who died last week at the age of 24It is with great sadness that Goal.com announces the death of a colleague, Saif Salah Eldin, at the age of 24.
Saif was a highly respected member of the Arabic edition's team and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
An Egyptian from the village of Abo Shalabi, Saif started working for Goal.com in September 2009 when he became the senior editor responsible for the edition's Bundesliga coverage.
He briefly left the company the following year to work on the arabic edition of Manchester City FC's website before returning to Goal.com where his expertise on German football - and knowledge of emerging worldwide football talent - made him a much-valued member of staff.
Ahmed Atta, chief editor of Goal.com's Arabic edition, said: "Saif had a lot of friends and was the kind of person who was ready to help anyone. He was highly ambitious and a perfect employee for any company.
"He loved his job and had a great attitude. For example, he would regularly spend extra hours completing a piece of analysis or element of design for the site when required.
"Saif was also an expert in identifying young talented footballers from around the world. You cannot imagine the number of players he knew about, especially in Germany.
"He wrote a series called 'Talent from the Bundesliga' which involved spotting potential stars of the future and so often he was right."
Saif will be greatly missed by everyone at Goal.com. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.
