Extra Time: Terek Grozny PA announcer calls referee a 'donkey'
Honorary president Ramzan Kadyrov refused to back down on his bias accusation towards official Mikhail Vilkov after the Chechen club drew 0-0 with Rubin Kazan on Sunday
Terek Grozny could be in big trouble after their PA announcer yelled that the referee was a "donkey" due to a red card being given to the club's captain in their 0-0 draw with Rubin Kazan on Sunday.Chechen club skipper Rizyan Utsyev was given his marching orders late in the game by Mikhail Vilkov which caused the stadium PA to lose his temper with the microphone switched on!
Terek honorary president Ramzan Kadyrov then apologised for calling the official a "sell-out" after the sending off in the Russian Premier League tie, but refused to back down on his bias accusations.
"I want to apologise to the entire football world for my remarks but not to the referee," Kadyrov posted on the internet, according to Reuters.
"It was a terrible game because the referee was biased. He did everything possible to change the outcome of the match - didn't award a [clear] penalty and gave Utsyev a second yellow."
The Russian FA has scheduled a hearing to decide what sanctions will face Terek in light of the incident, but many experts are predicting that politics will get in the way of the Kremlin-backed club president receiving any sanctions from the disciplinary committee.
However, former player Valery Reingold told Russian outlet Sport-Express: "It's a total disgrace to our game. If people at his [Kadyrov's] level make such outrageous comments, then what we should expect from ordinary fans?"
Terek sit eighth in the league early in the season on the back of the draw against Rubin Kazan.
