Totally Franck: How Ribery has taken Bayern Munich to new heights this season analyzes Franck Ribery's season so far and looks as to how the French winger has upped his game..
Bayern Munich's dream of lifting the historic treble came crashing down last season when they failed to the win the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and the Champions League. The loss to Chelsea at the Allianz Arena on penalties was heartbreaking for the Bavarians given that they had dominated the proceedings but were guilty of missing several chances. One man stood out in the stands with an ice pack on his leg at that fateful night, devastated, unfortunate and  unlucky of not being a part of that shoot out - Franck Ribery.

Failures are the stepping stones to success and going by this adage, Ribery has certainly set the season on fire in his bid to win silverware for the club.

Recently Ribery was voted as the best player during the first half of the season by his Bundesliga colleagues in a poll conducted by a German newspaper. The French winger has been in resounding form this season which has helped Bayern keep their silverware hopes alive in all the three trophies namely, the UEFA Champions League, the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal.

Has been in flying form this season

Having lost the title for the two consecutive years for the first time since 1994-96, the Bavarians strengthened over the summer window by adding the likes of Javi Martinez and Xherdan Shaqiri. The intense competition in the Bayern squad for places has only helped Ribery find his best form. His overall contribution to the side has been phenomenal given that he has 12 assists to his name in 22 games although he hasn't been as prolific as he was in the previous season in front of the goal.

Season Appearances Goals Assists Pass Accuracy
2012/13 22 5 12 89.7
2011/12 50 15 26 88.5
2010/11 32 11 21 87.2

With Ribery starting, Bayern have an unbeaten record in the Bundesliga. Although Bayern Munich are certainly not a one man team but Ribery's contribution towards their success has been crucial.

His exceptional performance against the likes of Augsburg, Greuther Furth and Hoffenheim has been well appreciated by everyone and what is more astonishing is the fact that the French winger has averaged around 100 touches in all of those games.

Has delivered when the club needed his services

Ribery always had the talent although injuries have blighted his career. Since last summer the winger has played more than 60 games for the Bavarians contributing an outstanding 38 assists and 20 goals in all competitions. With 3.1 shots per game in the league, Ribery lies third in the list of most shots per game and eigth in the list of Bundeliga's top passers.

The French winger has been at his creative best as he's been the standout performer for them laying glorious chances for his team-mates on numerous occasions. He has worked hard throughout the 90 minutes and what is surprising is that despite not being the tallest player on the pitch, he has won almost half of his aerial duels.

His confidence is at an all-time high and it reflects in his recent statement: "I know there are not a lot of players with my quality in this world." While many may deem this as a sign of being narcissist, the reality is that Ribery has been on top of his game over the last year or so.

For a club of Bayern's stature they cannot afford to go without winning the league for long and with this being Jupp Heynckes's final season at the club he would want to end it on a high note. Ribery's evergreen form has been a boon for Bayern Munich and if the French winger can continue his outstanding form, they  could be in for a historic season, something which was missed out on last time around.
