thumbnail Hello,

As Liverpool FC travel to Manchester to take on the rampant Red Devils, Goal.com asks a few fans on which side they think the cookie is going to crumble come Sunday...

Tensions will rise, sparks will fly and emotions will be sky high as Manchester United host their most bitter foes in the Premier League - Liverpool. With United missing Wayne Rooney and a lot being spoken in the media about these two historic clubs, Goal.com asks fans prior to this electric derby encounter on who shall truimph at Old Trafford this evening.

It is going to be a classic old school encounter between English football's two most             successful clubs. Everyone's looking forward to which striker will fire - Suarez or Van Persie? Personally as a neutral I am hoping this is a dramatic 10 goal thriller with hotly contested tackles and lots of cards (preferably another Suarez-Evra showdown)

Manchester United will beat Liverpool even without Rooney as the former's goal scoring frequency has been the highest in the Premier League. The United rearguard is finally coming into good shape with a couple of clean sheets in the league in the past month. Suarez has to be taken care of by Vidic and Van Persie has to clinically convert all the chances into goals at the other end. Easy win for the Red Devils.

This might not be the typical clash beween two great teams due to the difference in league standings at present, but the rivalry is unparalleled as emphasized by Rio Ferdinand in his pre-match interview. Considering Liverpool are bigger opponents than Manchester City, this match will see the league's two best strikers go all out against each other. It should be an evenly contested game with United edging Liverpool out. But not to forget Liverpool will be boosted by the return of Lucas.

Since the big game is being played in Manchester United's backyard, it is almost inevitable to say that it could be a clear win for the Red Devils and with Liverpool's inconsistent season, it all looks like going into United's favour! Though Manchester United will miss their star Rooney, they have enough depth in their attack. But will it be enough to take on Daniel Agger & Co? With strikers from both teams at the peak of their forms the game could have an interesting turn of events. A 2-1 late goal win for Manchester United looks a strong possibility.

Two of the most supported teams in the world. Two of the most successful teams in the world. The two most in-form strikers in the world. They all come together in this mammoth match at Old Trafford this Sunday. It certainly lives upto its billing as the biggest rivalry in English football on paper for sure. There are no doubts in my mind, Suarez will score a goal, so will Van Persie and you can bet your bottom dollar that United (most probably Hernandez) will pop in to score a late winner. But I will be more interested in the pre-match handshake, will Suarez and Evra finally give up their bitter hostility towards each other or will this saga rumble on. It is delicious this tie so many side plots to this epic "soap opera".

According to me it all depends on how Liverpool manages to cope with the threat of Van Persie. If Liverpool's midfield cuts off the supply line to him and dominates the central region, then surely Liverpool could nick a goal or two. Also, Liverpool players need to keep their cool in an extremely pressurized environnment and try not to hurt the team by getting sent off doing something stupid.

Manchester United vs Liverpool matches are always filled with drama and high expectations but only one of the red sides is going to prevail. This derby is going to be spectacular as this EPL season's top two scorers are about to go up against each other.

The clash of the titans, a match that is very much awaited not only because of the Suarez and Evra saga but also because of the intensity the players bring to the game. Judging by the splendid form that Suarez is in, one cannot rule out the chances of Liverpool winning but one must also consider the form that Manchester United are in. Both teams look evenly matched and it definitely is going to be a cracker. With the form that Suarez has been in and with Daniel Sturridge most likely to partner him, Liverpool's chances look bright but then again United have now got the services of Nani and Anderson who return from hamstring injuries. Clearly looks like an even contest but judging the form of both the teams and taking their recent encounter into consideration where United beat Liverpool at Anfield itself, I think Sir Alex's side's chances to emerge victorious look slightly better. But then again with football one can never say until the 90 minutes are over. We can only wait watch and enjoy.

This match should be a cracker provided Liverpool show up. They have been very inconsistent and have scraped through mainly because of Luis Suarez's skill. The striker needs to be on form to stand a chance of getting anything from this game. The United defending has been way below the high standards usually set by them but on the other side, their fans will be hoping Liverpool score because of the extraordinary fighting spirit by United. They have come back from losing positions over 10 times this season and it's that very quality that should be more than enough for them to get 3 points. 3-1 to United.

As far as rivalries go, not many are as intense as United versus Liverpool. Both are England's most glorified clubs and there are bound to be controversies. What we can expect: Even before the games starts, what happens during the Suarez-Evra handshake might as well decide the tempo of the game. But ultimately it depends on who can rise to the occasion better - Van Persie or Suarez? With controversy, entertainment and of course a lot of goals, I expect United to edge it 3-2.
