Fanview: Should Torres be sold in January asks Chelsea fans whether under-fire striker Torres should be sold during the January transfer window...

A month ago, Chelsea FC were at the top of the table in the Premier League, playing some scintillating football both domestically and in Europe. Fast forward to December 2 and things have changed. Not only are their hopes hanging by the thread in the Champions League, they have fallen 10 points behind new league leaders Manchester United, and have had yet another managerial change. But one thing is still unchanged, Fernando Torres’ form on the pitch.

Even hiring Rafael Benitez as the new manager was done by keeping in mind his relation with Torres as the two had a successful time at Liverpool. Here, asks supporters whether it’s time for Roman Abramovich to bitterly accept that it was an ill-advised signing worth 50 million and cut his losses as early as January.

I think Torres needs to change his approach towards his game. He has not been the ideal 'Number 9'. He is trying too hard by coming deep to help the team. He needs to be a bit selfish and make those runs towards the goal. He should not be sold as I feel he can get back to his best now that even Benitez is at Chelsea.

Viren Thakur:

Chelsea shouldn't sell him. But they surely should buy a new striker. Chelsea are low on numbers when it comes to strikers. They don't need to change the system. The Blues just need to get a deep lying playmaker like Xabi Alonso or Paul Scholes. Wesley Sneijder is available and fits the bill. Torres will score if he is given that kind of service.

Altaf Sheikh:

Fernando still fails to be a half decent striker, forget the one during his initial seasons in the Premier League. Towards the end of his Liverpool affair, his form wasn't particularly sensational either. So this looks like to be more of a bad investment in a player ruined by injuries. Selling Fernando Torres to a team more suited to his style will benefit the player himself, most importantly Chelsea, who need to move on.

Nishit Jalan:

The work of a striker is just to score goals. He has failed to do that. Chelsea have spent much more on Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin only to get him scoring and still he failed. He is no more a striker to play for a top team, probably injuries and a wrong transfer are the reasons for it. So they need to sell him and get a top striker to compete at the top level.

Shankho Bagh:

Torres has been given enough time. It's been 22 months and he has managed only 19 goals so far in a blue shirt. The fans have been patient with him. The club did not replace Didier Drogba simply because they thought that Torres is a fitting replacement for him. The club built their team around him. Bought quality players so as to get the best out of him. It's high time Chelsea realize that it has been an ill-advised and a failed transfer.
