Inter Milan Transfer Focus: Who they need and who they don't
After a disappointing season last year, Inter Milan will be looking to bounce back this season. They'll need to make a few signings to make that possible...

Positions that need reinforcements

Inter will be deprived the services of Lucio, Diego Forlan and Goran Pandev for the next season. The departure of these three players will leave the Nerazzurri in a rut. The defense will probably be weakened after Lucio’s exit and the likes of Christian Chivu, Andrea Ranocchia and Walter Samuel will need to step up their game. Matias Silvestre has been signed as Lucio’s replacement. Ivan Cordoba has retired at the end of last season. Inter might need someone to replace Maicon if he leaves.
The midfield won’t be a major headache for Stramaccioni as he’d able to count on Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Fredy Guarin and Wesley Sneijder, provided the latter doesn’t leave. Dejan Stankovic might be a possible candidate on the transfer list. Ricardo Alvarez, Mariga, Obi and Andrea Poli might feature more this season. Inter may need to sign one midfielder to add more depth to their squad.
With the departure of Diego Forlan and Goran Pandev, the forward department looks blunt. Diego Milito is the only known face with Rodrigo Palacio tipped to lead the line with him. Stramaccioni hinted at the possible departure of Giampaolo Pazzini and signed Coutinho from Espanyol for that purpose.

Likely Acquisitions
|

Inter have already signed goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, Jonathan, Mariga, Coutinho, Palacio, Matias Silvestre to reinforce the squad after several big name players leaving.
Mattia Destro has been heavily linked with a move back to his old club. However, Inter are just one of the many Serie A sides said to be interested in signing Destro, who is coming off the back of a terrific season with Siena
Polish winger Jakub Blaszczykowski is another player linked to Inter during this transfer window. The Polish international’s agent claimed to have been contacted by 5 clubs including Inter, Lazio and Liverpool.
Gaby Mudingayi’s agent has claimed that his client is close to a move to Inter. The Congolese born Belgian international will be brought in to strengthen the midfield futher.
Inter are trying hard to sign Paulinho. The Nerazzurri are sending sporting director Piero Ausilio to Sao Paulo in order to tie up a deal for the Brazilian, who is expected to cost around €7 million.
Lucas Moura is another Brazilian who is targeted by Inter but the Nerazzurri face stiff competition from Real Madrid and Manchester United, for the 19 year old's signature.
French international Mathieu Debuchy is on Inter's radar should Maicon move to Chelsea. The French right back has told his club, Lille, that he wants to leave.

Probable Departures
|

Ivan Cordoba, Lucio, Diego Forlan, Goran Pandev, Sulley Muntari and Kucka have all departed from the club.
Wesley Sneijder has been linked to many clubs like Manchester United and more recently Anzhi Makhachkala. Inter would be hoping that the Dutchman stays because he’s a crucial member of their squad. Even if he decides to leave, Inter won’t let him leave for cheap.
Maicon has also been subjected to some transfer rumours with the latest one linking him to Chelsea FC but Inter will be reluctant to sell the Brazilian right back.
Stramaccioni hinted that striker Giampaolo Pazzini might leave the Nerazzuri during the transfer window.

Moratti is doing the same things he did between 1999-2005. He is buying unproved youngsters while letting go of world class players cheaply. They are selling off proven but old players and buying in young and mediocre players. A high spending club like Inter needs to go far in the Champions League every season though this time around they haven’t qualified, to balance their accounts. I personally think that a top three finish seems pretty tough for an inexperienced coach and players alike. That’s it.

One thing that Inter need to ensure is that they do not lose Wesley Sneijder this season. Coutinho returning from loan is a positive sign and I never understood why was he loaned out in the first place. We do need a top class striker this summer to aid Diego Milito. The acquisition of Handanovic is certainly a positive move as Julio Cesar has been a casualty for the last two seasons.
