Iniesta hails from a small village named Fuentialbella in the province of Albacete, Castile- La Mancha.

Iniesta started playing football at a very young age of 12 for Albacete Balompié in a seven-a-side tournament. He attracted the attention of scouts back then.
Iniesta has had the backing of his family throughout his career. His parents knew the FC Barcelona youth team coach, Enrique Orizaola, who persuaded them to consider sending their son to be a part of the Catalan giants' academy.
