Germany international Neuer did not have much to do in the weekend victory against Augsburg, but he turned in an eye-catching display in the clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, pulling off a number of great saves to keep the scoreline unchanged until he was beaten by a Robert Lewandowski flick that he could nothing about.

Germany international Hummels had a quiet match against Wolfsburg but showed all his class in the midweek victory over Bayern Munich. He made his presence felt in the area to keep Mario Gomez at bay and helped Dortmund secure a vital win in the Bundesliga.

Rakitskiy
has found his way into our Best XI after impressing for Shakhtar in the 2-0 victory against Dinamo Kiev at the weekend. The 22-year-old defender rounded off a commanding performance with a goal to help his side move to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League standings.

Arsenal midfielder Walcott had a disappointing showing against Manchester City at the weekend, but redeemed himself in the 3-0 victory against Wolves, scoring the Gunners' second goal of the match.

Italy playmaker Pirlo pulled the strings in midfield against Palermo and assisted Leonardo Bonucci for the first goal of the game. He built on his impressive performance by grabbing another assist against Lazio in midweek, and also tested Federico Marchetti on several occasions with his free kicks in a Man of the Match outing.

Dortmund midfielder Gundogan controlled the flow of play and scored a goal in the victory against Wolfsburg on Saturday, before he put in a typically solid performance in the first half against Bayern Munich as he exhibited his exceptional passing abilities.

Silva did not even make the bench for the match against Arsenal at the weekend because of injury, but featured from the start in midweek against West Bromwich Albion and was in scintillating form. The former Valencia star picked out some quality passes and scored City's fourth goal of the match to help the team stay in the race for the Premier League title.

Real Madrid ace Ronaldo returns to our Best XI after a stunning performance against Atletico Madrid when he grabbed a hat-trick before turning provider to set up Jose Callejon for the fourth goal of the night. The Portuguese took his league tally to 40 goals this term and made the stalemate against Valencia at the weekend a distant memory.

Lewandowski showed in the last seven days just why he is one of the most in-form strikers of the moment. The Poland international picked up a double against Wolfsburg at the weekend and then scored the winning goal against Bayern Munich which may well have given the club the Bundesliga title.

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Menez was a constant threat to Olympique de Marseille's goal during his side's 2-1 victory on Sunday, opening the scoring in what was a commendable display overall from the former Roma player.
