The world of football was stunned on Wednesday evening when the FA confirmed that Fabio Capello had resigned as England manager. The 65-year-old, who had expressed his anger to an Italian television station about the governing body's decision to strip John Terry of the Three Lions captaincy, stepped down after holding talks with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne.
From a near-perfect qualification campaign for the 2010 World Cup to disaster at the tournament itself, the former Real Madrid coach has enjoyed the highs and lows of the Three Lions hotseat.
