English Premier League Comment: Is Esteban Granero the perfect fit for Liverpool?
"El Pirata" has been recently linked with a move to the Merseyside club. Ayush Srivastava ponders whether the Spaniard is the player Liverpool need in this transfer window...

Coming back to the present, the Reds are now looking to sign Esteban Granero, a creative midfielder who likes to play through the centre on-loan from Real Madrid.
Having let Alberto Aquilani, a player with similar qualities and a bit more experience go out on loan yet again and after Raul Meireles was sold in a cut-price deal at the end of the summer transfer window, one wonders why Kenny Dalglish is now looking to sign another predominantly central attacking midfielder?
The answer lies in the performances so far of the players Dalglish bought into the squad during the summer to provide ammunition to the strikers. Jordan Henderson has often been left marooned on the wing and while the youngster has shown some real endeavour, he is surely not a finished product yet.

Adam's Inconsistent Performances Have Left The Fans Baffled....
Charlie Adam’s blow hot, blow cold form has often left the Merseyside club’s faithful scratching their head. The Scottish international was bought into the squad to be the team’s chief playmaker, but he has been inconsistent at best.
That brings us to Liverpool’s talismanic skipper Steven Gerrard. The English midfielder has had a torrid time with injuries that has seen him miss a large chunk of the season. Since his return he has gradually returned to his influential best, but one cannot expect him to put on his Roy of the Rovers act every weekend at this stage of his career and he could definitely do with an ally in midfield.
This brings us to Esteban Granero. So what does he add to Liverpool’s midfield?
The main attraction of the Spaniard is his availability on a short-term basis as well as his versatility.
The Real Madrid cantera graduate has largely been out of favour with Jose Mourinho this season, usually deputising for Xabi Alonso. Granero is an attacking midfielder, with a good touch and vision, who can also fill in on the wings if needed or play as a central midfielder.

The Spaniard Would Infuse Fresh Ideas Into Liverpool's Attack...
He is not much of a tackler, but that is not the job he is being bought in to do by Kenny Dalglish. With Luis Suarez suspended, the club has lost its creative focal point, which has seen the team totally devoid of ideas in the final third.
The defeat to Bolton Wanderers as well as another home draw with Stoke City has shown, that if the club wants to fulfil their stated ambition of the top 4, then players who could add creativity to Liverpool’s general game play are needed.
During his two year stay at Getafe, “El Pirata” showed undeniable talent and looked like a player with a bright future ahead of him as he had the rare ability to unlock defences with a clever pass, which led to Real Madrid re-signing him. However he has been used sporadically by his parent club, which has stopped the midfielder’s talent from fully blossoming.
With Kenny Dalglish not interested in spending too much money this January, and with the inflated fees being quoted by clubs, justifiably so, the signing of Granero would signify an economical option for the club.
Perhaps a move to Liverpool could help him re-ignite the spark that has gone missing in his game, making it a move with all to gain and nothing to lose for both, the club and player.
