| Andres Iniesta called the shots from the midfield for Barcelona in their 4-1 destruction of Malaga away from home. The Spain international’s change of play, quick runs and link-up with his fellow attackers was superb. Joan Verdu was the central cog in Espanyol’s midfield in their 3-0 win against Granada at home. Everything went through him and the versatile creator also added his name on the scoresheet when he successfully converted a penalty. Mesut Ozil had an inspiring game for Real Madrid as they got the better of 10-man Athletic Bilbao 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu; his neat passes and vision coming to life in the second half of the encounter. The star of the show, though, was Marcelo, who started the game at left-back and was a perennial threat going forward. His energy levels never dropped, and his intensity and dynamism aided Los Blancos in several counterattacks. |
