By Anirvan Sengupta
Such has been his image that the furor over the “Hand of Henry” where he handled the ball to knock the Republic of Ireland out of Euro 2008 qualification had died down pretty fast.
In this edition of ‘The Good Life’, Goal.com focuses on Thierry Henry ahead of the big game against Manchester United this weekend:
1) Henry was born on born 17 August 1977 in Les Ulis, Essonne a suburb of Paris. Of Antillean heritage which, despite sometimes being seen as a tough neighbourhood, provided good football facilities. His father, Antoine, is from Guadeloupe (La Désirade island), and his mother, Maryse, is from Martinique.
2) Both his first and his 100th goal were scored against the same team, Sunderland F.C.

3) The word “va-va-voom” was officially added to the Oxford Concise English Dictionary as a result of the Renault commercials starring Thierry. The phrase has become Thierry's trademark quote during the spots.
4) Thierry likes to listen to rap before he plays a match. Some of his favourite artists are Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Xzibit and the Wu-Tang Klan.
5) His two favourite movies are “The Usual Suspects” and “Antwone Fisher”.
6) On July 5th 2003, Henry married English model Claire Merry at Highclere Castle. They had their first child, Tea, on May 27th 2005. However, soon after his transfer to Barcelona they went through a divorce.
7) Despite being strict on his fitness, the Frenchman loves to gorge on Chicken, peas, rice and Caribbean food.
8) The striker has also been involved in a couple of films. The first being ‘The Referee’ which is a documentary film produced by Freedom From Choice AB and Druid Film for SVT public service company Swedish Television. It is about top football referee Martin Hansson and his dramatic road to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Henry has also starred in ‘Substitute’, the film by former French footballer Vikash Dhorasoo. Apart from the Arsenal hitman, the film also includes David Trezeguet, Lilliam Thuram, and William Gallas in its cast list.

A True Legend- Henry has supported a number of charities
9) Having been a victim of racism, he has launched his own charity to try to tackle racism and social inequality among the young and underprivileged by drawing on his own experiences. It is called "The One 4 All Foundation", using the two digits on his Arsenal and Barcelona jersey. The charity plans to fund sports and educational projects in Europe and Africa. Alongside this, Henry had started the ‘Speak Up Speak Against’ campaign against racism in sports, with Nike.
10) Also hugely inclined towards charity, Henry has lent his support to the following charities Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cystic FibrosisTrust, Elton John AIDS Foundation, UNICEF
