7. Liverpool Sign Glen Johnson

Premier League club Liverpool have completed the signing of the England right-back Glen Johnson from Portsmouth. Johnson is regarded by many as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and his signing is indeed going to strengthen the Reds. He did have an option to return to his old club Chelsea but he chose Anfield instead.

6. Xabi Alonso Says Goodbye

According to some reports, Xabi Alonso has bid farewell to Liverpool. Reports suggest that the Spanish international midfielder bid farewell to some of the Liverpool staff, thereby indicating that he is on his way to Real Madrid.

5. Real Madrid Sign Raul Albiol

Real Madrid have completed their third signing of the summer as they signed Raul Albiol from Valencia for a reported 15 million euro. Albiol is only 23 years of age and has been a regular for the Ches for the past four seasons and was arguably the most consistent central defender in the Spanish Primera Division last season.

4. India To Spain

The Indian national team are already off on their foreign tour. First they will go to Dubai where the Indian international players will be for 10 days for a training camp. The players will then head towards Barcelona in Spain where they will stay for about a month and will play some friendly matches.

3. David Villa Edging Towards Barcelona

David Villa appears to be heading towards Camp Nou as talks between his current club Valencia and Real Madrid have broken down. Madrid were ever so close in landing the Spanish international striker a few days ago but Valencia eventually decided not to sell him. It now seems that Villa could join FC Barcelona as the European champions have thrown in their bid to land whom many believe to be the best striker in Europe.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo Officially Becomes A Real Madrid Player

Cristiano Ronaldo has now officially become a Real Madrid player after signing a six-year contract with the club. Earlier this month Manchester United had accepted Madrid’s 93 million euro bid and now the player has accepted personal terms and conditions.

European champions Spain suffered a world shocking defeat to the USA in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup as they fell down 2-0. The USA gave a very professional, tactical and intelligent display against the Spanish as they were strong at the back and sharp upfront.
