La Liga Team of the Week: Iniesta, Messi & Falcao make the grade

La Liga Team of the Week: Iniesta, Messi & Falcao make the grade

Latest Balotelli gives AC Milan the upper hand going into the derby Previous
27-Nov-2012 5:30:00 PM

The Spain star is included after his excellent goal and three assists against Levante and is joined by his Argentine team-mate, who scored two, plus three Atletico Madrid players

The latest round of Primera Division action produced one big surprise as Real Madrid lost out to Betis in Seville, but Barcelona went on to equal La Liga's best-ever start with an impressive 4-0 win at Levante, while Atletico Madrid stay in touch with a 4-0 success of their own - at home to Sevilla.

Malaga also ran out 4-0 winners, thrashing rivals Valencia, while Espanyol's crisis continues as they lost 2-0 to Getafe and are now bottom of the table.

After all of that and more, Goal.com takes a look at the top performers from the 13th round of Liga action.

In goal, Adri is included for his impressive display against Blancos, which saw him deny the champions with a string of fine saves - a role reversal after his error-strewn showing in the 5-1 loss to Sevilla the previous weekend.

Miranda impressed for Atleti in defence and scored a late goal as Diego Simeone's side ran out comfortable winners. Meanwhile, youngster Roderick starred for Deportivo La Coruna with an assured display up against one of the most difficult men to mark in La Liga - Fernando Llorente. Jesus Gamez makes up the back three following a fine game for Malaga as they kept a clean sheet in the 4-0 win over Los Che.

His team-mate Francisco Portillo scored a great goal in that match and was impressive all evening, much like Betis' Benat, who netted the winner and never stopped working as they shocked Jose Mourinho's side. Koke enjoyed probably his finest match for Los Rojiblancos and showcased his impressive technique with a superb strike, while Andres Iniesta was at his brilliant best for Barca, racking up three assists and netting an impressive goal himself as the Catalans claimed a 4-0 victory at Ciutat de Valencia.

In attack, Lionel Messi scored another double, while Rayo Vallecano's Leo Baptistao opened the scoring as the Madrid side left it late to beat Mallorca. And Radamel Falcao was decisive once more for Atleti, as he provoked the sending-off of Federico Fazio and scored from the spot to set Simeone's side on their way to a 4-0 win at the Vicente Calderon.
