64th Santosh Trophy: Bengal Look To Turn Things Around Against Mizoram
Coach Shabbir Ali aiming for three points.....
By Rahul Sengupta
Record champions Bengal will be up against the gritty north eastern team of Mizoram in their second match of the quarter-final league stage in Group B.
The hosts banked on Jayanta Sen’s strike to equalize in the dying minutes of game against Delhi.
Shabbir Ali will have to miss the services of Mohun Bagan defender SK Azim, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury. Chirag defender Arnab Mondal is expected to replace him.
Mizoram on the other hand have been a hardworking team in the tournament. After losing their opening match against Railways, the team came back strongly to register a 10-0 win against Bihar and a 3-1 win over Orissa to top the cluster and qualify for the pre-quarters.
The north eastern state shocked Kerala in the pre-quarterfinal stage and thus will play without fear against Bengal. B Beiokhokhei of East Bengal has been in red hot form for them.
Bengal coach Shabbir Ali knows the importance of the game, while speaking to Goal.com he mentioned, “All the players know how important this game is and we have to win it at any cost.”
