Santosh Trophy - Delhi vs Bengal(Mango Peel)
The firm favourite hosts took the field against a young and energetic Delhi side in the Santosh Trophy today. Bengal who were playing with Tarif Ahmed and Robin Singh upfront saw them miss chances galore in the opening half.

Tarif Ahmed’s shot went above the cross bar in 16th minute while Robin Singh’s optimistic shot was also denied by Delhi goalkeeper with equal brilliance. Shabbir Ali’s boys enjoyed a fair share of possession in the first half.

Delhi though scored the opening goal of the match midway through the first half when Tulshim Mashngva scored from a perfect header well executive from a pin point cross from the right flank. The home side went into the break one goal down.

Bengal came back strongly through midfielders Denson and Jayanta Sen who worked tirelessly to ensure their team held maximum possession. Bengal soon won a couple of corners in the 67th minute but nothing fruitful came out of them.

Just when people started thinking that the match was over for the home side, former Chirag United midfielder Jayanta Sen equalized for Bengal in the 87th minute through his well placed right footed shot. Hence both teams shared the spoils in the opening game of the Quarter Final league of Group B.
