While the Bengal side is all geared up for their first match of the Santosh Trophy at home, Goal.com caught up with the manager of Delhi team Tarun Roy to get his opinion prior to their clash with the hosts.

"They are the home side," he said. "In our last few matches, we won by good margins. Most of our players are U-21. We are a good side and our bench strength is also good. The only concern is that we will be playing on a synthetic surface. If there is no rain, the surface will be hot."

Roy went on to name the players who will not feature in the match, "Prashant Jaggi was injured in the first match and has not yet recovered. Amjad Ali Khan will miss the match since he received two yellow cards. Both of them are defenders but it is good for us that captain Vijendra Singh Bhardwaj will be back."

Under coach Ranjit Thapa, Delhi defeated Arunachal Pradesh 3-1, Uttar Pradesh by 2-0 and Madhya Pradesh 3-1 before they had to sweat it out against Chhattisgargh in the Pre-Quarterfinals, which was decided 4-3 in their favour via penalty shoot-outs.

He spoke about his team’s chances to Goal.com. "Our team played good football from the very first round. We hope to continue with that form. Most of our players are from the Delhi league so we have a good understanding."

The home side has a lot of big names in the squad whereas there is not even a well established footballer in the Delhi team. Coach Thapa explained, "We had invited Robin Singh and Manish Mathani to play for our team. While Manish was hospitalized due to dehydration, Robin chose to play for Bengal."
