Lucio Praises Brazil's Team Spirit After Comeback Victory
After winning the Confederations Cup, Lucio commented on the victory against the USA but also his situation at Bayern Munich...
The Brazilian side were made to suffer to clinch the Confederations Cup, going into the second half down 2-0 following goals from Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan.
Brazil looked like a much improved team in the second period and responded in the 46th minute through Luis Fabiano.
The Sevilla striker would add a second goal on 74 minutes before Lucio headed home six minutes before stoppage time to seal the deal.
After the game, an emotional Lucio praised his side's fighting spirit.
"For me, [the goal] meant everything, this was a tough season," he told the press. "Only God knows what I went through.
"Our first period was sad. We returned to the pitch believing, I only have to thank the group for fighting until the end.
"Turning the score round makes it taste even better."
Lucio made no bones of his disappointment at Bayern Munich, who have declared they will not renew the central defender's contract.
He added, "I am always happy when Brazil win. I am also happy individually. I want to thank the team, my wife, who has given me strength.
"I received surprises from my club, which I was not expecting.
"Not being utilised by Bayern anymore was a shock to me."
